AE and UT hardware

MISTRAS was forged on an extensive history of research and development dating back to the 1970s. Our in-house R&D labs, along with the Products & Systems Division, supply technicians with the latest AE and UT hardware. We have extensive facilities in MISTRAS’ UK headquarters in Cambridge, plus access to structural testing rigs operated by our research partners. MISTRAS research and development has a strong application orientation and is directed towards solving specific client or industry needs. R&D projects range in scope and size from application studies to test feasibility of proposals or provide support for safety cases, through to multi-year multi-partner programs. MISTRAS works with metals, concrete, rock, plastics, ceramics, composites and machinery.

Our research and development experience has ranged from the development of sensors for use in deep space, subsea, and in high temperature nuclear environments, through to systems and software for large scale structural monitoring with many hundreds or even thousands of channels. The most comprehensive structural monitoring system developed by MISTRAS for a critical post-tensioned structure fused measurements from robotic laser stations, strain, displacement, tilt, temperature, acceleration, and acoustic emission, into a single automated web-based monitoring system with more than six hundred channels. MISTRAS monitors structures worldwide, including offshore turbines, bridges of all types, offshore platform structures, flexible risers, oil and gas separators, and other process and nuclear plant.
